We will start with an easy technique called SQ3R.
S: Survey: Quickly looking at the title, headings and any subheadings of the text.
Q: Question: You can write all types of questions that come to you as you survey the text.
3R: Read:Don`t worry about the words you don`t understand only read and after this, if you still need the meaning of the word then look up for it, but remember! only if you still need it.
Recite: After reading a portion or section of the book, recite what you have read out loud.
Review: Read again. By writing down key facts from the chapter and reviewing it, you will better understand the information.
Now lets do a little example, please apply the steps we just learned. For this activity you will have to upload a video or a Mp3 archive to your blog so I can hear you reciting the text. Then you will have to write a small reflection about the text, obviously on your blog, the title will be Activity 2 Koala Reflexion.
THE KOALA
The eucalyptus is a very tall tree. It is also the mosto perfecto eating place, a comfortable bedroom, and the best equipped gymnasium. In fact, the best tree in the whole world! At least for the koala!
Koalas hardly ever drink, which is why the Australian Aborigines gave them such a strange name. In their language, Koala means "does not drink". All the liquid they need is contained in their food.
The mother koala bear waits thirty-five days for her baby to be born. The, he is very small indeed. So, he has to stay for up to eight months in the warmth and protection of the pouch, until he grows.
Wild Animals and Their Babies, Roberto Piumini
